1.Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana

Under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, the aim is to provide industry-related skill training education to the youth so that employment increases and the youth become self-reliant. It was started in 2015.

2. Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is a government initiative that provides farmers with financial assistance. Under this scheme, farmers

receive ₹6,000 each year, divided into three instalments of ₹2,000 every four months.

In 2018, the Government of India launched the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana to address social and economic issues faced by farming communities, with both central and state governments actively working to uplift these communities through various initiatives.

The PM-KISAN scheme is projected to benefit 14.5 crore farmers and aims to include an additional 2 crore farmers, with an estimated cost of ₹87,217.50 crore funded by the central government.

The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana provides benefits to landholder farmer families who have cultivable land in their name. Notably, small and marginal farmers with land up to 2 hectares are eligible for financial assistance under this scheme.

3. Startup India Programme

Startup India, launched on January 16, 2016, is a government initiative aimed at promoting innovation and creating a supportive ecosystem for startups in India to boost economic growth and generate employment.

Launched on April 5, 2016, the Startup India scheme offers loans ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore to promote entrepreneurship among Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) individuals as well as women to set up new ventures in trading, services or manufacturing.

The scheme aims to benefit at least 250,000 borrowers.

  • The government has set up Startup India Hubs to assist in incorporation, registration and grievance redressal.

  • The government has established a Rs 10,000 crore fund to invest in various startups, with an allocation of Rs 2,500 crore each year over the next four years.

  1. Government tenders: Startups are given priority for government tenders without requiring any prior experience, making it easier to secure lucrative projects.
  1. Networking opportunities: The government organizes two annual startup festivals domestically and internationally, which provide valuable networking opportunities. Additionally, workshops on intellectual property awareness are also organized.

4. PM-KUSUM Yojana

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha and Utthan Maha Abhiyan (PM-KUSUM Yojana) is a Government of India initiative designed to enhance energy security for farmers and boost electricity generation from non-fossil fuel sources. The scheme supports farmers by providing solar-powered pumps to facilitate water lifting for irrigation.

Launched in March 2019, the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana aims to boost farmers’ incomes and improve irrigation while reducing reliance on diesel in agriculture. Farmers can benefit from this scheme by installing solar irrigation pumps for their farming activities.

The scheme offers subsidies to farmers for installing solar irrigation pumps to enhance their income, improve irrigation, and reduce diesel dependence in agriculture.

It aims to ensure energy security for farmers in India and is open to individual farmers, groups, cooperatives, panchayats, FPOs, and WUAs.

5. Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme

The Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) is a credit-linked subsidy scheme launched in August 2008 aimed at creating employment through the establishment of micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector across rural and urban areas. It has been extended for five years (2021-22 to 2025-26) with an allocated budget of Rs 13,554.42 crore, projected to support approximately 400,000 projects and generate 3 million jobs (averaging 8 jobs per unit). PMEGP was formed by merging the Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Yojana and the Rural Employment Generation Programme, both of which ceased in March 2008. Additionally, the scheme aims to upgrade 1,000 units annually.

The grant scheme provides margin money of 15 to 35 percent for project costs, with the remainder financed by banks as term loans.

The maximum project cost is Rs 25 lakh for the manufacturing sector and Rs 10 lakh for the business/service sector. 

Eligibility requirements include being at least 18 years old, having completed at least the 8th grade, and not benefiting from any other government subsidy or being a bank defaulter.
